Just installed a timing belt on my 1993 Toyota Camry 2.2L 4 Cylinder. I was just wondering how much play the timing belt should have between the cam sprocket and the water pump gear. Just rotated 720 (2 revolutions) and tighten up going clockwise. Went counter clockwise just a small turn and noticed that the belt loosened up. No manual says what is correct just rotate 720 (2 revolutions) and tighten up and that is it. When I do this the belt seems loose. What is the end play (in inches, etc.)for these belts that is all I need to know? Even the dealer tells me the same thing I am reading from my Toyota shop manual.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
