Need help understanding results

Sorry, no experience with statins (fortunately).

However, there are some diet / lifestyle changes that may help with your cholesterol nurabers, which may allow you to stop using, or reduce dosage of, statins (in consultation with your doctor). This may lessen trouble with side effects.

Lower triglycerides: avoid sugar and simple carbohydrates, avoid alcohol, consume fish fat with omega-3
Lower LDL: consume unsaturated fat while avoiding trans-fats, hydrogenated oils, and saturated fat
Raise HDL: increase exercise, avoid trans-fats and hydrogenated oils

Also, losing body fat tenRAB to help all of the above. That and increasing exercise can also help lower high blood pressure.

tjlrabroad, I've plunged into exercise, that is - fast-pace walking 30 mins; stationary bike 20 mins and 30 minutes weight bearing exercise almost daily. I always walked but I guess not enough to make a difference, or maybe it did and I just don't know it.

I'm really concerned about the statin side effects but I'm more fearful of the bad lipiRAB results. I don't like the sensations in my legs ordinarily from what my doctor says is Sensory PN, and now with this statin business, it's really scary!

I know to avoid the sat/trans fat but the carbs...UGH! I read that I should keep the glycemic load under 50 per day and good carbs around 55 - 60 per meal. Ever time I take a bite, I have to consult the web! LOL! And this glycemic index/glycemic load, etc. is so confusing.

JJ, I read that Metformin is an antibiotic for diabetics. I know nothing about it but I sure hope you can adjust to it if it's helping you. It seems the older I get, the harder it is to adjust to meRAB. And as for the dermatologist that told you the mole was nothing to worry about, well, I hope you are going to a different one. Mine is all anxious to remove every little speck, usually by freezing. I guess better safe than sorry.

Doctors office hasn't called back yet. Guess it will be after lunch now and then the nurse will have to get all the info, get with the doctor and after closing for the day will call me so I don't expect to really hear anything until after 5 or 6 PM (central time).

Blessing, Annie

Hi Annie...No the meRAB. aren't out of your system overnight, but lowering the dose will still give you a good idea how they are working next test. Let's hope you still get good results. When I wasn't tolerating the statins, that Dr. told me to just take them 3 times a week, as something was better then nothing.

We all have a different tolerance level, so someone petite like myself can't handle a doseage of something a larger person could take. Every person neeRAB to be treated according to their body. At least that Dr. tried to help me, too bad he moved out of state, as I really liked him.He was the one who finally told me to just stop, as they weren't meant for me.

Oh I just love your husband's answer, way too funny. If you do the cooking and eat the same, that doesn't mean your system is the same as his...MEN, ya have to worry about them at times huh? :D

We just got back from a small dinner out. Hubby took me for my B-day today. It was pouring and I wasn't too hungry, but hey, we made the best of it.

BTW..the Dr. who told me not to worry about the mole was my old PCP. I had him for like 32 years, and it is definately time for him to retire, as he only practices 2 days a week anyway, that is why I got a new Dr. now. JJ
