As with any business, you will need to have a business and marketing plan as well as a Profit and Loss spreadsheet so you know were your company is at any given time. P&L's can be a great tool to know if you are charging enough for your services. In addition to funding your fixed and variable costs running your business, you also have to include a fund for new capital equipment every few years. New camera bodies and computers are perhaps the most expensive. And of course after all these expenses it would be nice to be able to eat and have utilities working in the house

SCORE is very helpful when it comes to helping new businesses and there should be an office near you.

As you know, clients who need photography have specific needs and you as a photographer need to be able to shoot just about any camera under any condition and produce marketable images on demand. I don't know how you will be able to do this with no photo education whatsoever. One way to learn both photography and the business of photography would be to become an assistant to a working pro in your area. Check around your area and see if there are any studio photographers who can use you as an assistant.

First things first. Get known! Make sure folks in your town know that you are there and that you do photos. Post signs and flyers at local stores and such.

Second you'll need the proper equipment. Do you have lighting, props (if you do indoor), backdrops..... A place to shoot outdoors?

Third you could invest in a website for people to check out your work. Yahoo here has a great small business plan that is cheap and really easy to start and create.

All in all, start-up money, advertising and a place to shoot, and as long as your good you will make it....Oh yeah File Taxes.
