Need help shooting on Gears of War 2?

Okay I just got Gears of War 2 yesterday and love it, but i seem to miss A LOT of my shots while shooting at them locusts. I only fire when my cross hair is red. The reason i scope is because if you don't scope you don't have a cross hair and im to used to cod and halo to not have a cross hair in the middle of my screen. And when i shoot the targets while scoping i still miss cuz of the dang recoil. Basically wat I'm trying to ask is what is the best way to work on my gears of war 2 shooting while scoping and shooting without scoping for all guns, like wat missions or game modes and such. Thx!
Btw, i have/had the same problems with shooting on Gears of War 1 as well. Which was a reason why i didn't really want to get Gears of war 2 but did yesterday.
 
I only had Gears of War 2 for 2 days.What i did was walk up close for shotgun for instant kill i didnt like using the Lancer cause it runs out of ammo to fast so i would use locust rifle allows zoom like pistol and sniper.Snipers easy if you cant use that u just suck at sniping.pistols are easy just aim them click to zoom.for the boomer shot always plant then anticapate their movements for atleast 10 seconds ahead and u should be good.Hope this helps.:)
 
-When u use explosive weapons, your best option is to aim at where the locust is running or if its hiding, aim at the closest wall to it.
-With the sniper, u just gotta have a fast trigger. If its hiding, aim for where the head pops out and wait. U gotta have a very good aim to use the sniper without the scope.
-Machine guns have lots of ammo usually so u can lots bullets aren't such a problem.
-A good choice for you would be shotguns. U need to get up close but once ur there, u just cant miss!
-U can also make good use of the miniguns some locust drop. They have a wide spread and don't use up your ammo. U might be slower but these guns do lots of damage.
-Switch weapons a lot depending on what ur killing. There's no secret strategy to aiming, u just gotta use the right tools for you.
 
Lol I had the same problem but what I did with the lancer is I shot like 3 bullets at a time to lower recon (Ruffly 3) and for sniping I just waited until I got it bang on should help you but if not sorry or you suck haha
