...horizontal when he starts.? At the bottom of his arc, he picks up Jane, whose mass is 56kg, in an elastic collision and then they swing on together.

(a) What is Tarzan's velocity when he reaches Jane?

(b) What would their joint velocity be after impact?

(c) Could the two of them reach a branch whose height is 1.5m from the ground? Explain answer showing reasoning.

Not sure how to do this but for (a) would I use Velocity = ?( acceleration x radius), transposed from the formula a = V^2/r.

Then for the elastic collision for (b) I would then use the formula (m1*u1) + (m2*u2) = (m1 +m2) V to find the combined velocity.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
