Need Help On A Easy Photoshop Effect?

I need some help trying to get a gloss effect on photoshop. ive seen this tutorial on youtube that show you how to do it but i still cannot understand the method. the link to the video is:

And he ex-planes the method at 2:40 into the video. can somebody please tell me exacaly how to do it :)
