hey you guys iv been out of the phone flashing for a long time now

the last thing i flashed was a nextel phone....

anyways i just moved to cricket and i wanted to take my instinct with me iv done alot of research and im almost got this thing flashed (i think)

this is what i did

i read the phone with UNICDMA and got the spc

then i opened up QPST configuration and started the server then i started the service programing client

after i got all that loaded up i clicked on roaming loaded up one of the prl's you have on the sticky and wrote it to the phone

now this is where i dont know if i did it right or wrong... if i type in *228 it says welcome to cricket were going to try programing your phone bla bla bla and it fails

if i type 611 i dont get a cricket welcoming msg instead i get this "to route your call to your home service provider please type in your 10 digit phone nuraber"

so if my phone flashed or not? i was going to try puting it in my account but if it didnt work that would be 30 bucks down the drain "activation fees"

thanks in advanced for all of your help you guys

Open Configuration tool. Start Service Programming client. Select Read. SPC settings on first tab. You can't miss it. Not to be confused with the one-time service code twoard the bottom-middle of the page.

*228 has never worked for me on an instinct.... the signal always fades every time I try. With this said you will need to manually program the instinct. You can do this with QPST or even ##SPC# . This will require your MIN nuraber which you can get from customer service.

ok this is messed up iv called cricket like 6 times and every time they tell me i need to go to a cricket store to get it programed for unknown reasons.... so what do i do?

Use QPST and manually program all MDN/MIN, SID/NID, etc.

FYI: Your MDN is your Mobile Directory Nuraber or basically your cell phone nuraber. Only enter the MDN where it asks for it. EVERYTHING ELSE is your MIN nuraber!

yea if you *228 and it calls cricket then you are flashed. for it to succesfully program with *228 it has to be on your acct and the spc neeRAB to be 000000. or you can put it on your acct and manually program.

oh wow that was a real fast response haha the cricket phone i have right now gives me the mdn and min nurabers in the my info menu so im good right i just type those in the programing menu and my phone should work? or do i still need to call customer service to setup my phone with them

or just do ##000000# if you are not familiar with the qpst screens... very easy to program this way. it will work as long as cricket has done the esn change

***YOU ONLY GET ONE MORE CALL*** this is why cricket limits people to 7 calls in 35 days. you've called them 6 times for the same problem that they can't even fix.

but yeah just hand program it using ##XXXXXX# where the x's stand for yor spc (if you haven't reset it to 0's)

u can change the spc with whatever program u want to use.... even qpst. im still betting the instinct will not work OTA (*228).

just enter your MIN/MDN and as long as you have the cricket prl loaded... you are good. You will need to have an ESN change done through cricket.

oh yes, sprint may call the min the msid. don't worry it is basically the same thing. there's no need to get into the details here because it doesn't make a different in yur case..

ok one last question you guys...

is there anyway to get the gps feature working? i dont care about picture mail or internet or anything i just want phone text and gps (im in a new city and i dont know my way around lol)

and would you recommend i flash one of the evdo prl's since the phone uses evdo? or which prl should i put on there for the San antonio area (south texas) i just put w/e prl so im not sure what i have on there right now....

yea i can program my phone doing the ##msl# but cricket wont do my esn change they keep sending me to a local store then they freak out because the msl isnt 000000....man this was supposed to be easy lol....

Change the MSL/SPC to six zeros. Easy enough.

Also, go to the ESN sticky and get the MEID converter. You need to give them decimal MEID and hex p-ESN!

well i tried to get it on my account and they said i need a shorter esn nuraber

Edit* ok i found this l4digital.com this is what i need right? so what nuraber do i type in? the dec or the hex?

actually if you call over the phone they do not need the hex (p)ESN. the CSR and RSR versions of cid do not require it (AKAIK). at least when i call ndcc they do not need the hex.

he cannot call over the phone as it only directs him to go to a corporate store in CIND..... hopefully he's on the write track now though.

and the Mafia strikes again
