he has a tv (rca 52" projection) that accepts the following 1 x DVI-Digital ( 29 pin DVI )

he bought an adapter on ebay to convert vga to dvi, i guess he bought the wrong one, because the pins on the convertor will not plug into the dvi connector on the tv (i think he bought dvi-a or dvi-i)

i'm stuck, i need a vga to dvi-d connector that will fit his tv. but the problem is that even with auctions like the following, you get the connector that he bought, but it won't fit:

connector for auction

connector he bought:

people in the main forum were saying that you couldn't do it, because the vga cord is an analog signal (unless you bought a super expensive box to convert it)

so, he's stuck with component video cords that will output 480p (correct?) or buy a new tv that has hdmi

Cant do it without a pricey converter IIRC.
You will need something like this that supports your TVs HD resolutions

Why not just use component cables for 1080i resolution?

last time i talked to him, he used the component cables (he has the premium system) and it would only allow for 480p. perhaps he doesn't know how to configure it correctly or his tv only supports 480p over component, it is kinda old and a pretty crappy tv imo
