I want to be able to transport my mountain bike to my college campus about 40 miles away. I will be driving there a few times a week. However, I don't want to spend more money than I have to by purchasing a VW brand bike rack. I also don't want it to be too cheaply made and fall apart on me.
Another issue I have run into while browsing the web for bike racks is that they are usually designed to hold more than one bike. I will only need to transport my one bike and so I'd like to find a bike rack that doesn't have that extra built in cost.
Also, how can I tell if the bike rack will work with my car when I buy it? Is that information typically listed on the packaging?
