The essay is about how the effect of the 1920 prohibtion of alcohol has influenced modern day socierty. the supports are :
gangs/ mafias
media
todays age debates
the economic benefits and how it made people like other drinks like wine and cocktails and martinis and etc
clubs and bars / speakisies
and i might also include black market and another support about how prohibtion has led to modern day soiety being hesitant to prohibit drugs and such

so far the only opposing viewpoint i can think of is to say that mafias and gangs would have formed for other reasons such as drugs and etc.

please help!

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The Mafia was already around, and took advantage of this to make additional money. Gangs were not really around during prohabition.
Im not sure where you got any of this info.
The downside was, people were killed during this time from trying to run booze into the country or while transporting it around during this time frame. My exs grandfather had a speak easy under his home, the room was already there, so he just used it. He more than once while using a fast boat to go out to sea to pick up deliveries said him and his wife has been shot at and were lucky to be alive after all that was said and done. I dont know more than that about the situation.
I do know, that in that family when one of the grandkids went into selling drugs, thier excuse when the family heard about it was, well it was ok for grandfather to do it, why are you all looking down on me, you all think its pretty cool that he was a booze smuggle.
The idea that prohibition made people like certain drinks more, I do not understand what you mean by that. Prohibition shut down the entire ecosystem as a lack of a proper term. Booze factories went bust, restaurants and bars went bust, it put alot of people out of work. The cities lost on tax revenue across the board also. So the people and gov were hurt alot by that poor business judgement call. It shifted the money to the Mafia and loners alone then, and no taxes were paid, but lots of people died from this.
