I have a tsunami 2 farad cap. just got it today. I know I have to charge it and everything, but before i did i wanted to know where I would place it. I found a spot so I wanted to see if I had enough 4awg wire left to hook it up. I decided to hook up the ground wire to the cap and run it just to be 100% sure I had enough. I did. And while I was at it I used my test light to check I was getting good ground. I was, then I used it on the negative terminal of my cap and the test light flashed, and i was curious so i tested it on the positive terminal of the cap. to my surprise the test light lit up. indicating my positive terminal is receiving ground. Its not hooked to anything, touching anything, and both terminals aren't touching, yet is receiving ground. so know i'm not sure if i have a faulty cap or if this is normal. should i continue with the installation ? what do i do? help please.
dude thanks so much!!!!!!!! i will try an install tommarow for sure.

The + side of the cap will read ground until it is charged. The ground bleeds through the cap from the - terminal. So that is normal. In fact here is how I charge them with my test light. Go ahead and make the ground connection to the - side of the cap. Clamp the alligator clip of the test light to 12 volts + (the 4 ga + battery wire you are going to connect to it will work, just make sure it doesn't touch any metal or the - side of the cap). Connect the tip of the test light to the + terminal of the cap. The test light will light up. As the cap charges the test light will gradually get dimmer. When the test light goes out, or almost all the way out, the cap is charged and safe to connect the + battery wire to it's + terminal. The filiment in the light acts as a resistor to slowly charge the cap so it is not damaged.
