need gardening help? plz help?

My family is growing a garden and all of our plants are doing fine except broccoli. I have been charged with finding out whats wrong with it. I am just asking for some ideas. I will describe the problem as best as I can. The plant itself is growing no problemo, but there are lots of holes and the leaves are eaten back to the midrib. If anyone knows how to deal with this plz answer. thx
