Need experienced advice about using N. America electronics in S.America?

Get the proper power supply from the system vendor.
Maybe the 127V one can be modified, but if you ask it is because you certainly don’t know how.
The type of voltage converter you need is a transformer.
What you get in international stores are electronic converters not suitable for electronics
They supply one half cycle every two cycles. It is OK for heating devices but not your stuff.
However transformers are big, bulky and heavy! About 15 pounds for 250W

Concerning voltage and wattage? Need experienced advice about using N. America electronics in S.America? Concerning voltage and watts.?
I have an USA Xbox 360 Arcade that I want to play while I'm in Chile.

I'm aware of the voltage difference (110/120-220/240v). I bought a voltage converter from Radio Shack, unfortunately it's only 85W (which worked fine for last generation systems). Looking at the 360 power brick, it's output is 175W, more than twice the power of the converter, so it's not powerful enough to work effectively ( I plugged it in, and it powers on and plays, but gets very hot, very quickly and blew a converter fuse).

I've heard suggestions that I can simply buy and change the AC adapter that connects the wall outlet to the power brick from a store down here, and it would work. When you look at the markings inside the power brick (where the ac adapter connects to it) there are markings that say 250v, which leads me to believe that it would possibly work. But the only cords I can find are ones with three slot openings, as oppose to the two on the Xbox.

My question is, would this work?

Seems like that would fry the brick, seeing that the listed voltage range is 100-127v, where as my laptop brick is 100-240v and works with this method.

I also read that buying S.American 360 power brick would also work, but seems like that would harm the actual 360 system.

Any suggestions?

I'm already in Chile, so I just can't go and buy a voltage converter with higher watts.
