so heres the issue, i have a toddler with CP and she cant and wont walk. the constant lifting is killing me, literally. my hubby is away with the military so its just me and my kiRAB, everytime i lift her the pain in my neck and back is so bad im in tears. ive been to many docs about this, and they send me home with muscle relaxers and they dont help! i will have her forever so this is gonna be a long road.and i cant keep being in pain with no relief, i dont know what to do.its like they dont believe that theres a problem. simple things like taking clothes out of the wash is horrible for me! im just curious whats the best thing for something like this, i cant stay on pills all the time, especially when they dont help at all! they havent done anything except one xray of my neck and showed just pulled muscles, thats all.

X-rays aren't going to show much. I would insist that they do an MRI. This should identify the problem so they can determine the best course of action. Best of luck!

thanks, they havent ever mentioned an MRI, i will forsure bring that up! thanks!:D

First of all, you said your husband was in the military so are you trying to get quality medical care on a base?? Sorry, don't mean to insult anyone here but you are probably NOT going to get quality medical care, diagnoising, and all you need to find out what the problem really is. If it were me, I would go off base and go to a private physician, you have CHAMPUS TRI-CARE I am guessing, I am a widowed military wife so I have dealt with CHAMPUS for a long time. If they told you that you have a pulled muscle and they diagnoised it by an X-ray, someone is full of it, muscles do NOT show up on X-rays. You need an MRI. If no doctor on post is willing to order it for you, go off post, get your MRI done and bill CHAMPUS for it. You might get some static getting them to pay it but you can always file a grevience against them refusing to pay the claim.

I have CHAMPUS TRI-CARE Standard, I could pay the $300.00 plus dollars a year and go to the nearest military base and get all my medical care for FREE but honey, not in this lifetime. I have the CHAMPUS basic and I pay the difference they don't pay.

The surgeon that did my cervical spine surgery is Army Reserve and he knew basically what he was going to get. He billed for something like 35 grand and got 80% of the allowable amount and he settled for it. He knew what he was going to get when he accepted me as a patient and saw my insurance.

Go off post and get a diagnosis and I would be looking to make sure your daughter is getting all she neeRAB with her CP. Good luck, CHAMPUS is not easy to deal with but I been at it for a long time.

I'm with Crittermom! I just hate it when I hear folks report that the doctors diagnosed A-Z (you fill in the diagnosis) with a simple, plain xray!! Unless you have a broken bone (and sometimes those won't even show up if they are stress fractures) plain films are not going to tell you anything significant when it comes to back pain. Now, I'm not a radiologist, nor am I an xray tech, I only speak from personal experience. I've probably had well over 300 xrays in my life (yes, I glow in the dark!) and that's my take on it. Insist on the MRI or CT scan or anything else that might be appropriate. Don't settle for one plain film. All the best to you and good luck. I too have Military insurance (TRICARE) but it happens to be my third insurance. I have Medicare as primary, another private insurer as a secondary and then comes the TRICARE. By the time the balances reach TRICARE, there isn't too much left to pay. Memere (Kath'Mac)

Memere, CHAMPUS once had me listed as dead. They called my home one day and wanted to know the date of Mrs. XXXXX's death. I gave a first brilliant response and said HUH.......:confused: They then repeated themselves asking the same question and I said, she ain't dead, you are speaking to her. The lady on the other end said oh no that can't be, we have her listed as having passed away and we need to confirm the date of her death. To make a long story short, I had to take every piece of identification I could come up with, take a living relative and go to my nearest military instillation, present myself as being alive.

When I arrived and told the lady my problem, she said just a minute and she went into another room and a bit later I heard her on the phone, "yes I am certain she is not deceased, she is standing in front of my desk." It was laughable later but it took a bit to get it all untangled. That was my first mire and muck dealings with CHAMPUS.:mad:
