Well let me start out saying im a 37/male with back problems. This all started two years ago with lower back pain, after many MRI and everything else they could charge me for they found that L5 and S1 (bulging disc) and treated me with narcotics for a year before i left them for a new Doctor. This Doctor found that T7 disc was blown out and parts of the disc pushing on my spinal cord causing much pain and knocking me down from time to time walking. Last Septeraber i had Surgery on T7, He removed 1/3 of the front of the disc to get it off the spinal cord. Since the surgery i can say most of the pain is gone but i still hurt everyday like a dull stabbing pain in the same area and i get tired so quick just from sitting up. Plus my Nerve around my rib cage is so messed up from having my ribs split and still soar to the touch a year later at my lower rib.
So has anyone have the same thing going on and what can i expect. The surgeon let me go and told me (You have a crack in your main foundation) nice.
My wife thinks im crazy for still having pain everyday and cant do most things with the family for my back. Thanks,CR

I also have a T7 problem but no surgery yet....hopefully never. Bt I have ahd 2 major cervical spine surgeries , the last for 3 fractures and 5 dislocations. I am almost 3 years out and slowly recovering.

At the end of year 1, I was still fighting fatigue, muscle spasms, and pain.

At the end of year 2, everything had lessened and my surgeon told me that it takes a good 2 years plus to recover but he never tells his patients that as they freak out. Well I had both knees replaced at the same time and it took over 2 years too so I wasn't freaked out and wish I had known this was common.

As I approach the end of year 3, the muscle spasms are almost gone, I have less pain than ever, and the fatigue is gone.

So hang in there. This is not abnormal. Any spine surgery is analogous to brain surgery and you wouldn't push yourself to recover from major brain surgery too fast....would you? Give it time, it will get better.

gentle hugs(don't want to hurt that back)..............Jenny

Thanks for the info.
Seems i need more time...i hope.
I lost my job and now looking for a new one but its tough with a bad back.
Tired all the time and my back nagging me. The weight of my head seems to even make my back hurt...Ok so im crying LOL. Just looking for a light at the end of this tunnel. I did ask my Doc. about work etc. He says im good to do anything...Well tell my back that!! I did get a MRI after the surgery and shows the disc black and thinner than all the rest and of course missing part of it.
Plus ill have to say after being on many Narcotics over the last past Two years.
I have Detoxed off all and feel a bit better than on them, weird huh. The Oxycotton was the worst med i ever got-advice stay away from that drug-my Boby got used to it and was a terrible time coming off that med.(4 days detox)
CR.
