must be either Verizon or Cingular (I have Tmo now and changing soon)

need great phone quality
need email
need Bluetooth (at least for a headset)
must have good PDA functions like calendar / contacts / tasks

no camera

all other features as nice, be extras

any style is OK; will look at any size, but smaller is better

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Thank you for your suggestions; it is the same conclusion I have come to. Now my big choice is between the 7130 with Verizon or 8700 with Cingular.

Both have good service in my area; both are the same price and it appears (some questions exist on the Cingular side) both have virtually the same monthly rate. So there isn't much to help me decide!!!

in my opinion you should choose whether to go with verizon or cingular, based on mobile to mobile. is it more economical to get verizon cause most of your family/friends have verizon or do most of your family/friends have cingular?

Most of my friends / family / work associates have Nextel. Nextel doesn't have a phone I want.

I suppose on that basis, Verizon would be the choice because I do know a couple of people with Verizon; I don't know anyone with Cingular (they are new to my area).

But I don't have EVDO coverage within 150+ miles of me. At least I do have EDGE coverage here.

The Treo 650 is available on with both providers, but I'm not sure it meets all your requirments. You might check on the Samsung i730 from VZW or wait for the VX6700 (currently available from Sprint). It would also be good to check the VZW and Cingular forums as there is a lot of good information about how the phones function - at least on VZW. There is even a PDA-specific forum that has good info on all current PDA phones.

The Treo 650 has had my interest. The Treo 700 is even more enticing. Does it have a mandtory camera? If not, and if it is less buggy than the 650, it could be a contender.

Thank you and Happy New Year!

yes the treo 650 and the treo 700 have cameras, and its manditory. well if you need wireless internet i guess cingular is your best choice, since its the only provider with some sort of fast internet. if you want check the cingular phones heres the link to the cingular phone forum. http://howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=289

As noted in a post above, I don't have EV-DO anywhere near me and a camera is a complete no-no (job restrictions). Guess that leaves me with the 7130 (on "slow" speed Verizon) or the 8700 with Cingular.

Thank you all for your help. Now if I could just make up my mind......

Speaking only regarding Verizon, the Treo 650 can be had w/o a camera, so my guess is the Treo 700 also will be available without one. I personally like the Windows Mobile platform and will be checking out the 700 (scheduled release is 1/5/2006). The Samsung SCH-i730 doesn't have a camera and is very feature rich. Cnet has a good review (http://reviews.cnet.com/Samsung_SCH_i730/4505-6452_7-31313312.html). As another poster stated, the Verizon version of the Sprint PPC-6700 is slated to arrive (when?) as well as the Moto Q (first quarter 2006 I believe), if you can wait.

Won't comment on Cingular as I have no experience with them. For what it's worth, I am new to Verizon and am very pleased with the service/network so far.
