Need a wheelchair for my mother

How do I go about getting a wheelchair for my mother with Medicare paying for most of it? I don't even know where to begin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time and have a nice evening.

Here's the link to the Medicare fact sheet on wheelchair and scooter benefits: http://www.medicare.gov/Publications/Pubs/pdf/11046.pdf

You'll need to get a prescription and a Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN) from her doctor, a copy of all relevant medical records might also be required. Her doctor can direct you to the nearest durable medical equipment store in your area. The store will usually bill Medicare directly or they may make you wait for an Advance Determination of Medicare Coverage (ADMC) from Medicare that could take several weeks - Medicare has thirty days to respond to a ADMC request. Advance notice does give you some peace of mind that once you have the wheelchair, you won't find out later that Medicare decided not to pay for it.

Good luck!
