Need a phone with EMS / animations and T9

I will be sooooooooooo happy if someone can help me. I've been searching the net and hofo and can't find it, nor can people point me in the right direction.

Okay, I'm on Verizon, but I will be leaving Verizon because there is currently a problem with their Los Angeles to Florida text messaging servers thats is preventing EMS text messages being sent. This is important for me as I live in Los Angeles and my fiance currently lives in Florida, for the next year.

Now on Verizon, we've had the v710 and now we're on the v3c. One thing about those motorola phones (and i'm assuming all Motorola V phones have this) are these animations that you can insert into your text messages (e.g. angry, confused, glasses, happy, devil, wow, etc). This is the most important thing for us. I know most hofo'ers absolutely hate those things and do everything they can to delete them, but this is important to us. The next thing that is important is the other side of EMS which is texting over 160 characters. SMS limits you to 160, but EMS you can go up to like 1000.

The reason why those two things are important to us is due to our long distance relationship. We have a 3 hour time difference, therefore when she goes to work, i'm still sleeping, when I get off work, shes about to go to sleep, etc. We have very little time during the week to talk, and usually we can do the entire week and not talk until the weekends. We can do this because of the EMS so we can text message how our day is going and basically like I'm typing this post to you, I can text message all of this into one text and as you can see, it is alot of info. So we text back and forth during the week via EMS (up to 1000 characters) and inserting animations. For a couple in love, the animations are important. Yes, I can see how you think its gay, but it makes her happy to send me a text in the morning saying good morning and inserting the kissing animation, or something happens that makes her happy so she tells me about it and inserts the wow animation, etc.

So like I said, we're leaving Verizon because I have the this ticket number and Verizon still hasn't fixed it and its been 2 months. I'm currently in discussions with them to waive the ETF. They said they won't charge the ETF if they can not provide service in my area. Well EMS is a service they provide, I can't get it, thus I'm not getting service that they provide, in my area. So once I find the right person on CS, I'll have them waive it.

In the meantime I'm researching to get a new phone on another next work. I was thinking of going Cingular, but they don't have unlimited text messages, and thats a big thing for us. So looks like I'm gonna have to go with T-mobile.

Now, the easy thing to do is go with the V3i. Its better than our V3c, but, I don't like motorola because their predictive text entry is iTap. iTap sucks compared to t9 and I can create a whole new thread on those differences, so just understand I don't want iTap.

So thats why I'm asking for a non motorola phone that can do EMS (1000 character texts and animations)

And the thing is, I'm a pda phone fan, but its hard to find that with my other requirements. I was leaning towards a Motorola a780, but no one can tell me if it has animations. I had the treo 600, 650, and 700w but none of those have EMS so I had to return them. Worse case scenario, we'll have to settle for the v3i. Which is not a bad consolation, since BT is very important to me, and an mp3 player is nice, but I'm also a fan of being able to view (and edit if possible, but not, no biggie) word and excel files on my phone.

So to recap, I need a phone:
1. with full EMS (up to 1000 characters AND those predefined animations)
2. T9 predictive text
3. Bluetooth

those are the three must haves, after that:
4. pda
5. mp3 player
6. sd card slot (any size)
7. camera

Any help? I understand that I'm in a unique situation compared to others wanting a phone, so I would be extremely gracious to anyone pointing me in the right direction. I'm at the point where I will pay you money to find me the phone I need.

T-Mobile has MMS that sends the animations or pictures...they also support long text messages. I believe the longest I sent was like 600+ some characters with my MDA to my wife's T809...it sends it as 3 or 4 messages but when you view it on the phone it combines it all into one text message. I have never used Verizon so I don't know how their text messaging works but you can send a biiig message just through text with T-Mobile and Cingular. It will just say like 1,2,3,4 messages which I believe it cost that many messages but will display it as one big long message.

For you I would suggest the GSM Treo 650 or the MDA to work on T-Mobile since you want a PDA phone with all the bells and whistles..the MDA has a miniSD card and the 650 has a SD card. I owned a Cingular 650 that was unlocked and I was able to send pictures, animations and text all with the right settings of course to my wife. If she likes the V3 if she has one then you can go ahead and get her another one through T-Mobile as welll...heck they even have a pink one..ooo ahh lol.

The 9.99 unlimited text, picture, video, im messaging package is great with T-Mobile and it saves us a ton of money since we comunicate basically through text while we are at work. I have sent messages to Florida with no problems through T-Mobile, I have also sent pictures and text to my brother who was in Marine basic in Paris Island.

*or you can get yourself another V3 or really just about any GSM phone that I have come across does everything that you want it to.

*edited again....also the SDA would work for you as well...forgot about the SDA

I had the treo 650 (cdma) and it didnt have the motorola animations (angry, happy, wow, etc). so when i was trying it out it i couldnt send those animations back and forth to another motorola phone (e.g. v3c)

are you sure the gsm treo 650 has this? i looked at the sda and mda on phonescoop and i dont think they have those animations that im talking about?

They don't have the exact emotions you are talking about...those are strictly motorola animations. I don't even think that you can copy them from a motorola and put them on another phone.

Arghh! Those are strictly Motorola animations??? Maaaaaaaaaaaan.

Okay, well does anyone know if the Motorola a780 has those?
