Need a phone recommendation

Hi everybody. I need help deciding which phone to get. I'm pretty much a total noob at this so bear with me.

What I want in a phone:
Somewhat durable, because I'm clumsy and likely to drop it at some point
The ability to put custom ring tones and graphics
A camera phone
Maybe the ability to play MP3s
Flip kind

My brother and sister have their phones from Virgin Mobile's prepaid service. I think it works okay for them. But I don't know if prepaid is the best for me because I want to talk a whole lot on the phone. Any recommendations?

Thank you all for any help you can give me!

A lot of it has to do with your location. AlltelU has some very good pre-paid plans setup for different situations, pay-per-minute, pay-per-day with unlimited texting, free nights and weekends, etc. T-Mobile also has some good pre-pay plans that get as cheap as 10 cents/minute. But depending on where you are, either one, or both, or neither may be an option. But if there are any local Alltel stores or T-Mobile stores, they usually have some very competitive pre-pay plans.

If pre-paid isn't your thing, look over the regular plans, but once again, usually I have found that Alltel builds very good networks and has very good plans with My Circle. I've also found the same true for T-Mobile in my area, but it really depends on where you plan using it. But I would make my mind up on a provider before a phone because there are good and bad options for every provider. But I will say with the ringtones and graphics you want to be able to transfer, stay away from Verizon or Sprint because they are very bad about locking down their phone so you have to pay a fee for basic functions such as that.

First decide which carrier you are going to use. Look at the coverage where you will using the phone - where you live, work, play, travel, etc. Talk to family, friends, co-workers about who they use and how they like it and the coverage. No matter how good or cool or cheap or expensive the phone is, if you don't have coverage, all you have is a paperweight.

Once you decide on the carrier, then look for a phone.
