Need a loud, rugged cell phone for my dad.

My dad is 70 and does construction work. I need to find him a phone with good, loud voice quality since he's losing his hearing. It also needs to be rugged as he still does construction, climbs under houses, etc. So no Motorola's with antennas to snap off easily.

Shopping for my phones is easy as there's plenty of reviews for gadget geeks. But I can't find much in the way of information on a phone like this.

Try the Nokia 3220. It's a glitzy youth phone, but it also has a nice, loud speaker. I.e. it remains clear, even at high volume settings. It can get about twice as loud as my 6230b and all the other phones that we tried at the Rogers store... when I was helping my hard-of-hearing dad get a phone. Does this sound familiar? :-)

Another recommendation for the 3220.

Loud ear piece volume, clear voice communication too.
VERY loud ringers! The one called FIRE ALARM is almost deafening at full volume.
It's a solid, rugged phone. Turn those stupid "fun" lights off and put the black cover on and it's a great phone.

If you can still find it, go for the Nokia 5190. It's an old phone from 2000, but my sister still has on, and it's durable as hell. Not to mention it's very, very loud at full volume.
