need a laptop for university?

i am very confused as to which kind of laptop i want. basically i will need it for typing lecture notes and i guess i will want it to replace my desktop as wel so i dont kno what im luking for. Most important thing I want is a long lasting battery, at least 6 hours or more and light weight. What are my options, thanks
 
go for a mac book very stable the new macbook pros claim to have at least 8 hour Battery life and there lightweight too
they last years as well and are much faster than pcs
cant go wrong with a mac
