Need 2 phones and unlimited data in Ontario

Here is the situation. I am looking to replace my in-laws 2 cell phones (total bill of $140/month, 2 land lines $80/month, and their internet dial up $20/month with 2 cell phones and an unlimited data package.

They have moderate to low usage on the cell phones now (they are just in a very old plan and paying too much)

So my questions are:

1) Is this reasonable? With the $240/month they are spending, can I get something that will work for them? I am open to all Ontario providers

2) How does the unlimited data work? What are the actual speeds you get when you use your cell as a modem (I have never done this).

Any help would be great
Thank you

Sorry, unlimited data plans dont exist in Canada. Fido had one for a while, but it's long gone and buying it from someone who had it grandfathered will pay a fortune as the plan has a huge market value.

Better just get a package service from Rogers for cable tv/VoIP telephony/cellphone/cable internet.

The internet portion of it is actually interesting...

Both Bell and Rogers invested in this company called Inukshuk (sp?)

Well actually, Fido bought it, and then when Rogers bought Fido, they automatically owned Inukshuk too...

Bell invested huge coin into Inukshuk as well to keep competitive.

The product is now live in many of the larger (and surrounding) cities in Canada...

Most of you have heard the Rogers / Bell commericals advertising "Take the Internet anywhere you have an electrical outlet"... well that's the product I am talking about...

It's not that fast right now (I've heard reports of about 1 mbps equivalent, which IS a lot faster than dialup for sure)...

I've got a friend that's and engineer for Rogers that was on the deployment project team for the service, and he's telling me that the speeds will likely go way up within the foreseeable future... which is interesting.

No data package caps from what I've read... it's $65 per month (or something like that)...

It's pretty interesting... I don't know anyone who has it yet, but both Rogers and Bell seem to be dumping more and more money into the old Inukshuk project, so I think it'll be around for a while.

With respects to their cell phone use? Well, why not check out a family plan? Most providers allow them to call each other cheap/unlimited, and with some pretty competitive rates... Fido still seems to have the best offerings for those low-usage users... Bell has some pretty decent plans right now too... but I recommend sticking to one provider for all services, this way you get discounts for using more than 1 service from that company (reminds me of home / car / life insurance model, eh?)
