neck and shoulder pain with numbness

hi, first time asking a question not sure if I am on the right spot, but here goes.

have major neck and shoulder pain on left side, some numbing down the arm, had nerve blocks but still pain, had an mri done and it showed c7 t1 (this is from the report) In the right neural foraman there is a low t1 bright t2 signal approx 9.6 mm craniocaudal x 7mm ap x 6mm transverse low t1 bright t2 signal lesion. In the left neural foramen there is a simular appearing smaller lesion... going to neurosurgeon on the 20th, and getting another mri with contrast, but I am wondering if anyone has an idea of what this is, I can't find any information on the internet. sorry so long can't wait to hear response.... thanks

the biggest possibility here for just what this could be would be whats called a cavernous hemangioma? this is a veinous fed lesion that sometimes just is a congenital malformation that we are simply born with in our bodies. in my case, mine was also within my actual cord too. the other possibility is an AVM which is kind of the cavernomas arterial counterpart, this is arterially fed and a bit different in risk too. you will more than likely know much more about just what this 'lesion' actually is once your NS gets a good look at your films himself, and also from the contrasted MRI. i am glad they are doing the contrasted pics, since this would tell if this is the possible AVM. it would light up extremely well if its arterially fed,but would not if veinous. was there actually ANY mention at all in your report about either hemosiderin or the words myelomalacia in it? just kind of need to know that.

i would simply do a bit of research on hemangiomas within the spine and cord and see what you can find out. this was NOT described as any type of actual tumor,so thats a good thing too. but lesions, depending upon where they form can come with their own set of problems. unfortunetly you will have to wait for the next MRI and the eval/consult with your NS to really know anything for certain. that part always sucks, the wait for info.

just kind of keep track of the symptoms you are feeling, even the little ones so you can tell your NS the WHOLE story when you see him. even little signs and symptoms/feelings/perceptions can show the NS just what parts of your spinal areas are actually involved with any type of cord involvement. this is what i did when all my crazy symptoms started and i assumed it was all from my herniated disc, til my own MRI revealed my cavernoma in my cord.

just an fyi for ya,but there is a really great spinal boards here on this site its just a big scroll on down in the "S" section. great knowledgabele people there who are very helpful. you may want to head in that direction for the best possible help. i post there too on a regular basis. i do wish you luck with this and do want to know what you find out too,K? fi, just had another mri with contrast, but I don't understand this at all maybe someone can help me
findings: the preexisting c7-t1 level right larger than left neuroforaminal and left t1-2 level neural foraminal low t1 bright t2 signal lesions related to the nerve roots demonstrate no enhancement.
