My husband graduated boot camp NOV. 26 and now I dont know when he is going to into A-School, I just know, he's A school is in Great Lakes too.[MM]

Does anyone know how leave time works, like when he can come off base, or stay over night, how long?
Do I should move to Chicago, while he is in school or not?
Its only for 4.8 months and then he will get his orders to go to base. Should I start to search apartments?

If anyone can help me I will be very happy and more relax. Thanks!
the recruiter told me if the school extend to 5 months, they move me.

no you cannot move there. he will NOT get permission to reside off base . duty stations must be at least SIX months in duration before he can REQUEST accompanied orders. the schools do not have to allow it,and many do not. if he gets extended because he gets rolled back they will not change his orders to accompanied mid stream. ALL expenses incurred should you decide to move any way will be out of pocket.

when it comes for his PCS,they will only pay to move you and your things from where you are SUPPOSED to be, not Great lakes.

as for his free time.. he will have to earn those privileges. he can expect the first month he will not be allowed off base..at all. he must earn each Phase.

Don't move to Chicago for his A School. He probably won't be stationed there permanently. Just wait until he gets his orders, and go apartment searching then.

During A School he'll have phases.

Phase I - first 3 wks:
-All liberty expires at 2200 (10PM)
-On-base liberty only on weekdays
-NO consumption of alcoholic beverages
-Must complete indoctrination before off-base liberty is authorized

Phase II - upon satisfactory completion of several conditions (http://usmilitary.about.com/od/navyjoin/l/bltrngrestrict.htm ) and after at least 3 weeks:
-All liberty ends at such a time as to allow 6 hours of continuous sleep

Phase III - upon satisfactory completion of several conditions (http://usmilitary.about.com/od/navyjoin/l/bltrngrestrict.htm ) and after at least 4 weeks:
-Sailors experience liberty equivilant to staff.

He'll be spending a lot of time studying anyway. :)

Good luck!
