nausea and diarrhea

Glad to hear that you are feeling better. Maybe you could try drinking gatorade. I always gave that to my girls when they had the stomach virus. I would stay away from dairy products for a few days.

last night before i went to bed i ate some \precooked chicken, and some ranch dressing. then today when i woke up ive felt extremely nausous and i have watery diarrhea every 20 minutes or so. it is 100 percent watery, it started off brown but has now turned a yellow color. it is scaring me. i talked to some friends and my parents and they are all convinced it is a stomach virus and nothing to worry about. is this something i should be very concerned about or is it going to go away in a few days on its own? also should i try taking pepto bismol or something related to that??? any help would be much appreciated i feel like complete crap and i feel like im constantly holding my vomit down.

I would say that you just have a flu bug and in a few days you will feel just fine. My daughter had it a couple of weeks ago.. Take care

how come after eating food and drinking milk my stomach feels bloated and i feel gassy? is this because im still getting over my virus? when will it go away?

im trying to consume plenty of fluids but its hard because i also have heartburn and water makes me nauseous. im going to try to drink a few glasses of water and then sleep with extra blankets in an attempt to sweat it out.

well its day 3 of this "virus". although i do feel ten fold better, i still feel slightly nautious and lethargic. im guessing the lack of energy is due to the fact that ive hardly consumed any food in the past 3 days. like today for instance all ive had is one waffle and a piece of toast. i find that ice cream helps sooth my stomach but i still feel kind of nautious. is this all related? this feeling i have no is just the left overs of whatever virus i had id assume would that be correct? i also think i may have a sinus infection however that is a entierly different problem.

It might be something more than just influenza. Actually, there's a good chance it is something more. The flu doesn't just pop up overnight, you would have felt it coming on.

How long before you went to bed did you eat that chicken? If you ate it then immediately went to sleep, it could have settled wrong in your intestines causing a blockage that would explain the diarrhea and nausea much better than the flu would. The reason it's 100% water is because nothing can go through your intestine and when nothing goes through the large intestine for a while, the liver creates a lot (more than its supposed to) of a fluid that is normally supposed to help with digestion called bile (the yellow stuff). You should go see a doctor.

alright i have some good news. although hardly sleeping last night today i do feel quite a bit better. im just going to drink alot of water because i do feel very dehydrated. but i think it was just a stomach bug. im hesitant about eating though. what should i try eating?

Milk and milk products have lactose (milk sugar) in them and they will cause bloating and gas in many people. When you're well, you can try Lactaid when you eat dairy products, but for now, I'd lay off ALL dairy products until you're better. Good luck and hope you feel better soon!!

one thing i forgot to ask, how long is this going to take before im fully recovered? since im getting better i see no reason to see a doctor.

thanks everyone. im trying to just eat simple things for now like toast and potatoes and things that are easy to digest. i also realized why i have such bad heartburn recently, i did the 14 day program with prilosec and apparently after the 14 days are up and you stop taking the medicine your acid reflux rebounds and gets worse so now im back to taking it again and so far so good. my stomach is slowly getting better but its still not 100 percent. hopefully soon it will be.

Have you heard of the B.R.A.T. diet? It's what pediatricians recommend after the stomach virus: Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast. It works very well. I'm sure you'll be fine if you take it easy and don't overload your stomach. Drinking plenty of fluids is the right thing to do--I think you're on the right track. HOpe you feel better soon!
