I have minor cerebral palsy and they only problem i have is that I cannot control my tensing! For example, say I need to pay for something consting $4.35, when looking for the .35 I just tense, sometimes small tremors as in difficulty picking up the change from the surface, or because of my tensing sometimes I cannot hold the change in my hand while selecting the amount from my wallet.
This is primarily due to my CP - that is, my muscles just overwork themselves which causes the tensing. A non-CPer, for example does not tense like this, for example, lifting a full glass, carrying a tray of glasses, things like this are as simple as walking for you, while as difficult as clirabing a mountain for me!
To a degree, it is also pfychological, as I've noticed that when I know people are not "watching me" the tensing is almost non-existant. I even thought "practice makes perfect" so to speak, but paying for things, for example, I have been doing for years. I have my good days, where I do not tense, but the fact is, I still tense with the change (for example.) i have concluded that it is my minor cerbral palsy that is causing the "over-tensing," or other worRAB, lack of better controlling the tensing.
Doctors I;'ve been to really could not give me an answer, as all I kept hearing from them is that my problem of cerebral palsy is so minor that at this point, it just is more psychological than physical.
So doing some reseach, I came across what is called "Formula 303 Maximum Strength Natural Relaxant." apparantly it really consists of "valerian root" which I've read is a natural relaxant." It says that this helps with muscle tension, and it also helps in insomnia.
I'm just curious, has anyone used it for their anxiety? Has it worked for them? Does it impair your driving? I'm just wondering if this can really help ease my nervousness that, basically, my cerebral palsy causes me to over-tense.
