Native flowers/heat resistant flowers for a garden in south Texas?

More specifically San Antonio, Texas. This is my summer project and I'm looking to make something that will last in this summer heat. Lately we've been lucky and have gotten some rain that has made the wildflowers bloom extraordinarily but knowing the weather around here it's not going to last too long. I heard that having native flowers cuts down on the amount of water used, as well as creating an irrigation system of sorts and using some mulch to retain water. So I was wondering if anybody knew of some native and/or heat or drought resistant flowers I could possibly buy at a store(like home depo or HEB)? I have a pretty big back yard so I'm looking to cover at least the outer edges.

So far on my list I have: Cornflowers, petunias, hyssop, and butterfly weed. But all those are maybes since I don't know if they're available in stores (like butterfly weed).
