You can tell by the way the crash happened that it had nothing to do with the tires. If a tire had blown it would have been a much softer impact than he had. He just said on the radio that they are way to tight, so he tried a different line on the track. A combination of the different line, speedy dry, and entering the turn too fast caused him to get loose, he over corrected ( and at that speed how do you not just soil your pants I dont know) and the car snapped on four fully inflated tires and ran right up into the wall...
That was only his second lap, if the tires are that bad they would have found that out in practice. A lot of goodyear's problems have just come from the new C.O.T. platform, and lack of testing with it.
