both naruto and bleach are fighting a group of bad guys
but which ones the real threat
the akatsuki manage to kill and beat some mean charters
(asuma
jireia
and maybe kakkashi to name a few)
the espda however are dropping like flies
they don't even give the soul reapers a chalage
it's a wonder aisen thought these guy would help him take over the world
and he doesn't seem to worried the his army is losing
my thory either(this is the most likey) he's useing these guys to were down the soul reapers or he has more powerful underlings waiting in the wings
I hope so because most soul reapers are annoying and need to be taken down a peg

Different narrative rules are at work here. I can't name ALL the applicable tropes right now but I'm pretty sure the Espada are a 'Quirky Mini-boss Squad' and the Akatsuki are more 'Psycho Rangers' in style.

They're not designed for the same story purpose.

In either case I'd rather have the Gennai Ryodan. They're more interesting.

Very few of the Espada have any actual characterization to them. Sorry, but it's true. Most of them are just arrogant loudmouths who are killed as a result of that aforementioned arrogance before long. "I'LL KILL YOU SHINIGAMI, I'm superior in every way!" Then 3 to 6 chapters pass. "GAH, I'VE LOST, IT CAN'T BE TRUE!" I'll allow for the quality of Ulquiorra's villainy, he's the foe you love to hate. Maybe Grimmjow too, but that's it.

Akatsuki? There was far more to Itachi than anyone had thought at first. Diedara was a legitimate threat and portrayed as a psychopath who really wanted nothing more out of life than to craft the "art" that are his explosives. Sasori was an inhuman monster who wielded a literal army puppets in what was one of the best Naruto fights ever. Pain requires no explanation for anyone who's been following the manga and knows what his goals are and what he's done lately.

I find Akatsuki far more interesting and far more dangerous in every way.

Espada drop like flies because the plot says whoever's better at the sword, wins. There's only so many surprises and good fights you can do out of swordplay. Ishida had, IMO, far more interesting fights because he has a vague fighting arsenal that's doesn't feel like a deus-Ex. Same reason why Naruto fights are just more interesting, since "Ninjitsu" is vague enough to pull anything.

Also the fact Atsuki are proven to have more power in general, exception Azen because he has ultraplothax.

Maybe if an Espada had been able to actually kill one of the Bleach characters they might get more thought from me, but Akatuski definitely get my vote.

The problem with the Espada is as mentioned too many don't really have much depth to them. They just exist to be defeated and allow for power-ups for the group. Plus the Espada never actually succeed in killing a character.

Look at Akatsuki. They killed
Asuma, Jiraiya who were significant characters in the storyline. Maybe throw in the sand granny, but she was mainly just for the purposes of that arc. Now look at the recent Konoha explosion/invasion and might even have more characters dead

Although ultimately that is probably my biggest grief with Bleach in that nobody ever dies. The characters are all older then Naruto, yet Naruto is able to weave that into it's storyline and something Bleach doesn't.

It removes a lot of the tension from fights in Bleach because you know no matter how beaten up someone is going to get they're not going to die.
