Naruto Shippuden not to air on TV in the States?

No, that is only proof that those three episodes did well for whatever reason, and it's pretty clear that "The death of Naruto" episode spike was based somewhat on the misleading title.

The ratings for the filler in japan dropped off so much that they nearly cancelled the show altogether.

I've discussed the inaccuracy of polls/ratings before.

That applies as much to you as it does to me.

Episode 205 was listed here: http://schedule.cartoonnetwork.com/servlet/ScheduleServlet?action=viewAll&showID=335883&show=Naruto a few days ago. Now it's not.

You know what pisses me off? Cartoon Network is only airing up to episode 108, and Naruto.com and hulu are streaming episodes 116-120. So, what about 109-115? I've always been one to support legal releases and avoid illegal methoRAB of watching shows, but they're not giving people any other alternative here. You either have to skip 6 episodes or watch them illegally. This is a real slap in the face to those of us who have supported watching the show illegally. It's like "So, you've watched the series legally up to this time? That's great, but if you want to see all the episodes, you'd better go find some fansubs."

StandarRAB and Practices. The episodes have to be cleared by S&P before they can air, and S&P is also in charge of censoring and edits.

S&P being up to episode 215 was revealed during Toonami's last day. We don't know if they have the final 5 episodes yet.

Yeah, it was originally scheduled to air this week, but apparently decided to postpone it instead. Seems they want to stretch out these last 15 episodes as much as they can.

That sucks for you! But I honestly can't believe Cartoon Network would do that, but maybe everyone is right...maybe the current management DOES hate anime.

I didn't say it was proof, I said it was evidence. And all three episodes probably got a ratings boost due to their titles and/or episode descriptions. The other two episodes were part of that borab arc and one of the episodes was titled something like "The 11 leaf ninja gather". The point is that if the casual fans are still tuning in whenever an episode sounRAB interesting then they'd probably be willing to tune in if Shippuden airs.

Who cares?

It doesn't matter if ratings are innacurate, that's all Cartoon Network cares about.

I know it doesn't matter what I think. It matters what the ratings are, and what little evidence we have shows that the ratings are good.

You know, for a while, I've been wondering which is worse, the hardcore dub fans who refuse to watch anything subtitled or the hardcore sub fans who refuse to watch anything dubbed. Well, I think the hardcore sub fans just won. Here's one of the mind blowingly idiotic reviews for the Shippuden episodes on hulu.com:

This confirms what many of us have suspected all along. No matter how good a dub is, fans will still complain, and in this case, they'll complain about the dub even if it's not dubbed! The episodes are clearly in Japanese with English subtitles on hulu, so it's obvious that this person hasn't actually watched any of the episodes on Hulu. He just saw that Naruto Shippuden was on Hulu and rather than click on the episodes to see the quality of the dub, or in this case, the non-dub, he immediately posted a review saying how horrible the dubbed voices were. And no, he's not the only one. Reading through the comments on hulu make me lose faith in society. I mean, if one is braindead enough to write a review for something they've never seen, what's next? McDonald's workers ringing me up before I've ordered? Here's another gem of critical analysis:

I find it somewhat ironic how he calls everyone who has trouble reading subtitles stupid, and yet he's too stupid to read the text on the top of the page that says the Shippuden episodes on hulu are subtitled.

Oh, so that's what S&P stanRAB for and does, thanks ^_^.

Um, is there an article online or a thread/topic on TZ about this? (the S&P of Naruto up to 215, not toonami's cancellation)

I'm kind of taking the way they're stretching out these episodes as an indicator that they won't be picking up Shippuden. It doesn't make any sense otherwise. I mean if they're not picking up Shippuden then of course they wouldn't mind dragging their feet on the few episodes they have left.

This whole premiering Shippuden online bit always seemed like another big indicator to me. And sure they're dubbing the series, but that could be just for the DVD releases - which of course are still doing quite well.

I dispise the whole "Only stupid people like/watch anime dubs" Watching the dub or a sub at least in the age of the DVD and options to watch something in multiple languages and subbed with the push of a button. It's no longer that simple. We are long past the days of butchered dub only when it comes to anime (if those days ever existed) yet some people refuse to get with the times.

I hate these type of people. Who cares what language you watch it in as long as you enjoy the shows. Naruto has a very good dub. Really dubs aren't bad anymore.
