I'm happy about this. Proves the new media model works for anime. As providers just need to give online video a little bit more respect.

Not to nitpick, but Hulu is only a year old and high-quality streaming video is also a fairly new thing. Things have come a long way since youtube was founded in 2005 with its original, hurable square video box.

I've actually read things about fansubbers upset about anime being uploaded online for free on these sites because they "want to download it to keep without paying". And this is for shows they haven't even seen and might not know if they would want to keep.

(highfives)

I normally don't nitpick at CN that much nowadays (mostly since I just don't care anymore) but that made me giggle a bit.

I wonder how FUNi's site is doing. I know FMA:B did well but what about he others.

And the thing about Cartoon Network: All they had to do is be consistent. They kept changing their look and their scheduling that it added such an inconvenience to try and catch up (and it's not just anime). And now we have a convenient service where people can go and watch whenever they want without setting up a VCR or a DVR. Lo and behold, it's providing satisfying results.

Are there similar rankings for Youtube? I wonder how well Funimation shows are doing on there. Imagine what the reports would say if a show like One Piece was on one of these sites.

database counts how many time a given video is accessed. they probably even have broken down to complete views, how many times a given ip watched a given show and so on.

meanwhile, it's great news, and hopefully some other network might have the vision to run with said info.

I still remeraber a year ago, when people were saying things like "companies need to get off their butts and switch to digital distribution and release faster than the fansubbers". I'm still amazed at how suddenly that became a reality.

The dub from the beginning would be great, because, as said before, CN screwed it over, and I am so totally lost on current events in the series because all I've been able to do is catch random episodes.

I like Internet distribution because every viewer counts.

With TV you're still stuck with the old and busted Neilson system where one family with a ratings box is supposed to represent however many householRAB.

Same here. Nielsen is a horrible system if only because of the pathetic and obvious sampling bias. As you said, Every single person who views an internet broadcast will be counted equally. It makes me feel more more like I`m supporting the show this way, whereas no matter how many times I watch Anime on adult swim, it'll be as if I never even watched it to the people in charge because of the idiotic nielsen system.
