Narc

I agree ianB, the photography work and acting was first class. Ray Liotta and Jason Patric really gave it their all. The opening chase sequence was real hard hitting too, definately had a sense of realism and true grit about it.

The director Joe Carnahan looks like one too keep an eye out for, he is going to helm Mission Impossible 3, which could mean a much more darker and edgier movie than the first two installments, possibly?

Anyway, NARC showed the quality that can shine through when the hollywood politics ain't dictating what you can or cannot shoot.

More of the same would do nicely!
 
NARC was a fairly good movie, although I wasn't a big fan of either of the actors' portrayals :rolleyes: A bit of a 'wham bam thank you maam' in-and-out movie. A tad shallow when compared to other similar attempts in the cop thriller field; the 24-esque split screen felt a tad used and abused just of the sake of it. I don't wish to sound as if this film was unremarkable, as it did provide a gritty hour or so of low budget cop thriller fun. I'd just say it was more 7 out of 10 movie ;)
 
I don't think the split screen sequence was a coat tail ride of the 24 hours thing. In fact it emerges that it was a montage of the random street folk they interviewed for extra footage. No acting involved just raw uncut footage of ppl on the street being questioned.

Also, I think the split screen was a homage in tribute to Sam Peckinpah & Walter Hill.

I think NARC and Training Days are pound for pound for the best cop thrillers to have been made within the last 7 years or so. Actually, I think Training Day is the greatest cop movie made simple as.

Both NARC and Training day seemed more focused and aimed at my kind of audience ie the hiphop and urban generation. I think the grit and street edge reality of both movies is what elevates them above the rest of the pack.

I watched NARC again yesterday and have to say I have pulled more from the movie since my initial viewing, 9 out of 10.:D
 
I bought and watched the DVD over the weekend, a brilliant film.
I really enjoyed Ray Liotta in another low budget cop drama called Phoenix (1998), and Narc was just as good, if not better.

Narc is very different to you typical Hollywood movie and i would highly recomend it.
