Naming your bike.

Name vs Title
Well, I guess I've given my past 4 out of 5 H-D's a Title, like the "****", not so much a name. It's really more than a name. Names are given with hopes. Titles are earned. My last 4 Harleys have earned their Titles and though it may not sound like it, the Titles are a true sign of pride not shame.

Ugly Duckling
Flame
White Trash
and most recent
Tuna Boat aka Gahbage Bahge, as said in NH,
as said elsewhere, The Garbage Barge

prior to these 4 bikes all my others were just bikes held together with a shoestring budget. All the memories with those bikes seem to blend into one long foggy day. But at the time it was often hard for me to remember my own name or title. But either way I was mostly refered to as "Hey, you *#&@*" and I soon forgot anyway.

First off, let me say if I give a vehicle a girl's name, it means that it is kinda special.. My ride's name is Mona, courtesy of my girlfriend. She got naming rights, because she thought it was a funny tradition to name a vehicle. And Mona was what she came up with. I like it.

No disrespect to any ladies out there. I don't always understand the female viewpoint, but I shudder to think what life would be like without my girlfriend or Mona around.. They both challenge me at times, but most of the time they make me smile..... ALOT!

I think the naming of machinery must be sort of a "down home" tradition, and I like it... Ships have names, and I think that is where most of it comes from... My grandmother tells the story of her parents coming over on the boat from Sweden, and when they got to America, and bought their first car, my great grandfather named it after the boat that brought them from Sweden. Kind of cool, huh?

Hope y'all have an awesome weekend, I am stuck in the cage all weekend for work. But I got a long weekend coming in April. Going from MD to NC for a little get together on the Outer Banks!

Given the generalization and tone of THAT comment...
Are you suggesting you have never experienced either of those qualities from your male compatriots? I'd like to know what side of Fantasy World you're living on.

Mine has to be a female. It costs me alot of money for cosmetic things(just like my girlfriends breast enhancement), it gives me headaches on days when I just can't figure out why, and every now and then when I get to climb on and ride I get some pleasure. Sure sounds like a woman to me.
