WELL THEN.
My novel is about a young girl named Julia. In the Preface, she is about 9 years old. It's springtime of the 1800's in her little hometown. A war has been going on since Julia was at least 5. The war depresses her very much, since her father died last year. And even worse, a horrid disease is spreading, taking lives of hundreds by the days. Ever since she was a little girl, Julia had always questioned her mother about a little hole in the wall right next to the kitchen. 'Silly child,' her mother said, 'Tis but a mousehole.' Ever since that day she noticed it many years ago, Julia had been curious. Over the years, the hole had grown bigger, until it was a ragged crack. The disease is spreading farther, becoming progressively more deadly. Soon, her mother becomes ill with the spreading disease, and Julia fears the day her mother will pass. She had watched people been killed by the disease, and it didn't take long for it to spread. The December of that year, Julia's mother passed. Without any care over her, Julia is left to take care of herself, only ten years old. Everyone had begun to die except for a few people who rarely left their homes. Julia soon became more wistful then she had before. Julia was a smart girl. She was very well schooled. She had the same academic level as a ninth grader at that time. Julia felt small as she cried to herself. She curled up next to the crumbling wall and whispered to the black hole, 'I know you're there...'
Getting on to the main plot here...
Julia realizes that there is a creature living in the hole, and it can't speak for itself. She tries giving the creature a piece of crumpled paper and a piece of charcoal to see if it can write English. She finds out the creature is very human-like and knows English, but cannot speak. She befriends the creature, whom she finds out is female, and finds that it has named itself 'Vi'. 'Vi' tells Julia that she is very old, and that she has lived since the beginning of time, yet she has stayed at the age of thirteen. With the rest of the town wiped clean of life, Julia decides to take Vi and herself to a new land. They row themselves on a canoe to a nearby island. There, Julia meets an indian girl her age named Korinne who has an older brother and sister. Some more crap happens here, mostly befriending each other and planning to spread the news of the disease to the nearby countries. Anyways, Vi, is an evil, grieving spirit who seeks for revenge. She causes the virus herself, therefore, naming herself 'Vi'. Vi causing havoc secretly, has assistants of hers alike. Some more stuff happens, and then we have your basic Man vs. Man conflict. Friends who were supposed to be enemies from the start, are now enemies. Fighting spirits with humans.

I will NOT accept the name 'Virus' for the title.
