Does anyone know the title of a film, where
a plane crashes in the desert (during world war 2 i think), and one by one the crew dies but comes back as ghosts?
There was a TV movie from 1970 called Sole Survivor. A WWII bomber is found in the Libyan desert and the "sole survivor" Richard Basehart is haunted by the crew who accuse him of leaving them to die. He is now a general helping in the crash investigation with William Shatner.
Cheers, that's the one. Checked it out on the IMDB and seems others remember it with fond memories too. Must be because it's a TV movie that I can't find it.
There's a whole load of great early 70's TV films which have fallen into a kind of limbo. A lot of up and coming future stars, directors and writers cut their acting teeth in these. Remember....
A Cold Night's Death , Robert Culp and Eli Wallach stuck in an Artic research with monkeys, but who is studying who?
Death Race , A crippled American fighter plane chased around the desert by LLoyd Bridges' mad nazi.
Killdozer, Construction workers terrorised by alien possessed bulldozer.
I grew up watching these films, they filled a gap from late 60's until the arrival of the mini-series and the ending of the embargo on showing cinema films that weren't decades old. Sadly I only got a VHS in 1981 curses !
the reason those films have been pushed in to the background is that most people now have short attention spans and don't care about nazi's or wwII, but i think they are missing out of some really good films.
