This is a pre-1950's film. In the opening scene of the World War 1 a British pilot is shot down. He was taken prisoner and then taken to the officer's Mess where he joined German officer for a meal and drinks and friendly conversations. The film shows the higher officers look at the war as a game while the lower ranks rot in muddy trenches. The rest of the film is all about sufferings of the enlisted men in the trenches. This is not an aviation film.
