Name of cartoon i remember

Its about this cocker spaniel pup who loses her/his mom in a burning house, then he/she meets an old man who ends up in the hospital. I remember watching this and crying my eyes out!

But can anyone tell me what the title of it is? Thanks!

^That was Scruffy, and ABC Weekend Special from 1980. Just to set the record straight, Scruffy (voiced by Nancy McKeon) was a she.

Oh yeah, Scruffy, an old childhood favorite of mine. Of course, watching it as an adult is a somewhat disturbing experience since you realize that despite Scruffy obviously being a puppy (including being called one), just about every male dog she meets appears to be "interested" in her. That's no good! :shrug:

Yeah, you heard me. Although i do recall at least one instance in the movie where a dog came on to her and another dog went "knock it of, she's just a puppy". But then again, that same dog that looked out for her like that ended up together with her... So yeah. :shrug:
