Name of a 70s-early 80s movie?

I saw this movie in the background a few times when I was a child in the late 70s, I believe. It could have been the early 80s. The movie was very artistically done with unusual shots. I thought it was Jeff Bridges or Ryan O'Neal. A young businessman marries an heiress or aristocrat's daughter. Her father has spoiled her her whole life and she is certainly delusional. She's breathtakingly beautiful, the actress looked to have been in her mid-twenties, dark hair, porcelain skin. Her character would stare into mirrors at herself, drift off into day dreams, play ballerina, dancing around in this unusual, richly colored flat. She's been so set apart and catered to that she's almost unreachable. He sets about a path to be terse with her and follow through with his commands as a husband. It certainly is not violent or viscerally frightening. The acting was so real, though, and she was so convincing in her madness that a scene of him dragging her across a floor while she flails and begs pitifully is astounding. I believe I remembered that he broke her of her delusion. Anyone remember this movie? Thanks!
