Name good sequels that are better than the originals

How can you really compare Aliens with Alien? They're very different films with very different themes. I love them both, but compared to Alien, Aliens is juvenile highschool action stuff - but very effective.
Same thing with MI and MI:2 - the first is a well thought-out piece of cinematic art, the second is a run-of-the-mill action flick. The third one was a slightly better run-of-the-mill action flick. Just my opinion of course.
I agree with most of the other suggestions posted.

My suggestion: Bride of Frankenstein is better than Frankenstein.

I prefer the first Armour of God, because Rosamund Kwan is hot, and the fight at the end with the four scary women was incredible. The wind tunnel part WAS funny, but I prefer to see arse-kicking rather than humourous results.

I also thought the original Project A was better. Jackie, Sammo and Yuen all coming together brilliantly at the end to take on Dick Wei - classic.

If you're talking Jackie Chan sequels, then there can't be that many that were better than the original, apart from Drunken Master II, in my opinion. I preferred the first Police Story, and the first Young Master films to any of their follow-ups. I would like to see City Hunter II, though. That would be great!
