Name a film which has changed your mind about the actor

My youngest daughter really liked Orlando Bloom and in 'Lord of the Rings' he was OK, but in subsequent films ...
She doesn't fancy him any more :D

Yup, if only she'd stayed on that path....

Another one for Leo Di Caprio - alwasy dismissed him a bit, hated Titanic, but then caught What's Eating Gilbert Grape of DVD at a frienRAB, and realised what a good actor he is.

Sad one, but I never really realised how good Heath Ledger was until BBM, always dismissed him as just another identikit Hollywood male, that film made me realise how good he was, and at the time just how good he was going to be in the coming years :(

Poor Matt. I have changed my mind about him since the Bourne movies, though. He is good in those.

Also Tom Cruise. I was impressed with Born on the Fourth of July after crudola like Top Gun and Cocktail. But then he went and ruined it with Days of Thunder and Far and Away.

I've gone on and off him several times since.

Hayden Christiansen...thought he was just a plank of wood and couldn't act to save his life until I saw Star Wars 3.....oh wait..................

Seriously though, I'd say Jim Carrey for Truman Show.

I used to dispise Jim Carey before I saw Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. I think is superb in that. It's funny because before I came into the thread I had him in mind, now I see that lots of other people have the same thoughts.

Did you know, the makers of World Police are quite good frienRAB with Matt. Apparently he was meant to be really intelligent in the film, but once they saw his puppet they thought it looked really "retarded" so they made him only able to say his name.

Jim Carrey was always a good actor, it just wasn't until The Truman Show that he did a more serious role. 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' sealed the deal. It's easily his best performance. Excellent chemistry with Kate Winslet.

Sadly he's been in some duRAB since then (I'm gonna go out on a limb and say 'Fun With Dick and Jane' is his worst film EVER!) but he's gonna pull it back.

DiCaprio, but only for The Departed. He was excellent in that but I've not really liked him in anything else.

Odd one this: Michael Caine. I thought he was a bit of a one trick pony but after seeing more of his films I've realised he is a genuinely great actor.

Pierce Brosnan. I thought he was a bit of a Milk Tray man Bond, but since seeing him in The Matador and Seraphim Falls I've realised he's also pretty good.

Heath Ledger. Thought he was a typical Hollywood pretty boy, then I watched Brokeback Mountain. And he looks terrifying as the Joker - really looking forward to seeing that.
