N97 w/Joikuspot and Android Device

Wondering if anyone other than myself is having the same problem.

I have a N97 with Joikuspot Premium (paid) which works great on other devices (laptops, N95) but when I try to use it on my Dell Streak with Froyo OS it does not recognize the wifi connection at all, hence will not even connect to it.

I've tried it at work, at home, and even when I was away from any other Wifi radio signals.

I even tried to manually assign the wifi SSID but nothing. :doh:
Any help?

well same thing is happening with me as well. N8 and Streak, i hope someone will come up with a solution to this issue soon

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that JoikuSpot sets up an ad-hoc network? Some devices object to ad-hoc wireless.

At least you can get JoikuSpot to work.. I bought it on my N8 and it refuses to start up the wifi piece.. Keep saying a connection is already available and fails.

I turned off my wireless AP (so my N8 would actually not try and use it) and it worked... Is that a requirement? You can't be associated to an AP?

Probably, mine works only using AT&T Internet, once I am at home using my wifi it will not work.

My works fine on my N8...I haven't tried using my Wifi, let me try that and report back

As for Android phones won't seeing the Wifi on Joikuspot, my Captivate and friends Evo won't see it also...I think it has something to do with ad-hoc mode that Jokuspot uses for Wifi....think Android OS only see "infrastructure mode"

Well i know this is a android development question but can android device connect to ad hoc network ?

ok just tried it with my Wifi at home and Joikuspot won't start...disabled my Wifi and it connected using ATT 3G. When it tried to connect with my Wifi on it says "Active Connection" and it failed

This really isn't a frequently asked questions. Logically if you want to create a WiFi hotspot for devices to connect to share your 3G cellular connection you can't have the phone's WiFi connected to an AP. You guys do realize how JoikuSpot works?

“E) Why doesn’t JoikuSpot work with Sony PSP or Nintendo DS?

Sony PSP and Nintendo DS require WLAN infrastructure mode. JoikuSpot does not support this yet.”

“D) Why does JoikuSpot appear as computer to computer (ad hoc) network?

Currently Symbian OS used in Nokia phones does not support WLAN infrastructure mode.”
