N97 Mini : Opera Mini access point question...

This has been irking me for months now.

For some reason, Opera Mini will not ever ask me to choose an access point when going online (as all other S60 apps do); it simply defaults to wifi. If I'm out ot range, I get nothing. Opera Mobile works as normal, as well as every other app I utilize.

The only way I can change it is to force Opera Mini to use a singly access point in the app manager, but then it will ONLY use that ap. If it's set to "none," it still only hits wifi. No other S60 phone I've used has ever had this issue. Does anyone know what the deal is with this?

Mostly due to RAM issues; I'm to the point where I'm tired of having to close *everything* down because of the way Opera Mobile gobbles up all the available memory. I prefer it to Mini, but I can keep several things (Gravity, Mobbler, e-mail) going at once by sticking with Mini.

Hopefully the newer S^3 models will have fewer issues with this, thanks to the extra (and long overdue) RAM.

Perhaps. It's just mystifying to me, seeing as how all of my previous Nokia phones (including the generally similar 5800) did not display this behavior. It's very much exclusive to the N97, at least in my experience.

i had this problem too on my 5800 and n97. i just make it access the 3g all the time. i have unlimited anyways, and mini is so fast it doesn't really matter much.

^ i think if you uninstall. then go into destinations and set default to internet. then reinstall it might work. don't mess with the access point settings for opera miini. if you do, you'll be back to where you started

I would, but I don't get 3G on this phone (T-Mobile), and even Mini is noticeably slower on EDGE vs. wi-fi. And either way, I'd like the choice.
