N95 Will *now* be released in Q2

i think thats a typo cuse every were else says it has 850 even the openstudio thingy said it was quad band...even that nokia rep in that vid said its quad band!!!

looking at the link it has this: WCDMA HSDPA 850/1900/2100 MHz what does that mean?

The n-series website says:
"Dual mode WCDMA/GSM Triband GSM (EDGE/GSM 900/1800/1900 + WCDMA 2100 MHz)
and
WCDMA HSDPA 850/1900/2100 MHz"

Just a hunch, but could it be that there are two different versions of the phone and the US version is only going to have 850/1900/2100 mhz support?
And the european version will be triband + wcdma 2100.

That'd suck.

Well hopefully they have a better slider too, specially this being a dual slide. Cause the one on my N80 SUX bad. I have had to tighten it 2X already, and I've only had it for a little over a month. If its something like they have on the 6270 (spring loaded) and have some sort of locking mechanism so it does slide around in pockets, that would make it ideal.

So I wait to see watch people b|t

What "US" version? Is there actually a market for unlocked $700 phones that work on exactly one provider in the US (Cingular)? I just can't imagine that enough people would buy a "US" version of the N95 to make it worth Nokia's trouble to design/manufacture/market it.

Right, and the same specs appeared for the N80 -- and there was never a "US" version because it was all dependent on Cingular picking up the phone, which never happened. And if there is a UMTS 1900 version, it will be a "Cingular" version, not a "US" version -- it's not going to work on other US carriers even if it isn't sold through Cingular.

Weird, I'm a poweruser and my N80 slide is still fine (as when I got it a year ago or something like that....whenever it came out, can't remember). It is not as nice as the 8800 slider, but I never needed to tighten it.

In all honesty there is no way of you or anyone knowing that. Since you are saying the same thing everyone says when they are excited to see a new phone. Everyone said the same of the 6620, 6630, 6680, N80, etc.

There is always bugs. And whoever said to wait it out AFTER the people who blew all the money to be first in line finally get over the kick to the bQlls that it feels at not getting all you hoped for. Whether that stability, battery life, etc.

well yes. it will be a cingular version. but saying, er, typing US is easier. Albeit confusing. though for the sake of argument, t-mob doesnt even have 3G (yet) so saying US is still kinda ok.

I doubt you will see this formally offered by Cingular. (meaning national ads and support on the web site) I owned a Cingular branded 7610 but it was never released. My Uncle works for Cingular in Atlanta (something beyond retail stores=meaning some type of exec position) and he had a Cingular branded 8801. You may see some floating but nothing wide scale. I think the N75 is as good as it gets. I know that many of the blogs and such had stated that the N95 was due for release in EU 1st Quarter 2007, and something similar would become available for NA. This statement was not reported direct from a Nokia Rep and perhaps the "something similar" is the N75 after all. I hope that's not the case as I would love to own an "UNLOCKED" NA 3g capable N95.

That's what I think as well. Which goes back to my original question, why would Nokia make a Cingular version of the N95, when Cingular isn't going to sell it, and 99.9% of Cingular customers get their phones from Cingular?

perhaps their intention of designing it was to tempt carriers to carry it. Remember the N80 with umts1900. no carrier carried it, but nokia did make protos of it and they're around.

btw, its incorrect to call it a cingular version since the US version (if there is one) will work with T-Mo on 1900 mhz as well. Yes, T-Mo is deploying UMTS (and maybe HSDPA) by mid to end of '07.
