N95/Symbian PIM questions

I'm thinking of buying the Nokia N95 but have a few questions regarding the Pim functions on the phone.

I'm syncing my phone (SE k800i) with my Mac for contacts & calendar. The thing that annoys me most is that it doesn't sync more than a snippet of the notes for schedules or tasks. Do Symbian sync all of the note for these items or?

I would also like to know if Symbian support IMAP folders? So that I can see and read the folder structure on my IMAP server.

Looking forward to hear from you

PC Suite Sync works flawlessly with MS Outlook 2003 on PC for contacts, calendar and notes. IMAP also works, but unfortunately, there's no way to filter out deleted messages!

The default Calendar app doesn't show notes, but Papyrus (3rd party application) does for the calendar, and ALON Contact Guide or VITO QuickContacts will show the note for a contact.

Funny, since these apps can do it, it would appear as though S60 syncs the information, but chooses not to show it. I wonder why?

I sync iCal events with longer notes with my N95 and the entire note is included on the handset in the description field. It's a short snippet when browsing events but clicking on the description displays the full note.

I just posted something on Nokia syncing with OS X: http://5thirtyone.com/archives/814

The autosync via Bluetooth with an iCal event or proximity might be something worth trying.

I've never been able to get IMAP support to work correctly on ANY S60 phone I've had. The phone will manage to download the headers, then either the mail app locks up or the whole phone locks up. I've gone with Profimail.

IMAP works fine on my N95... I can view full emails and attachments. HTML emails load up in the web browser.

Using all my folders, too. Not sure what problems you are having.

I wish I knew what the problem was. The server's a Linux box running stock UW imapd with SSL. No other type of mail client has any problems connecting to it. With the N80, I have to take the battery out after trying to read my mail.

Thanks for the answers. Seems like everything should work fine.

Dereks:
I already use proximity to sync. and yes. It's really a killer feature!

I just installed dovecot. It definitely works better with the S60 mail client than UW, but still tends to hang on "Updating mailbox". At least I can hit cancel and the whole phone isn't locked up. Are you using SSL? Did you enable any of the "client workarounds" in dovecot?

Yes, I am using SSL (self-signed certificate) and I wish there was a way to permanently set my certificate on my phone to stop the pop up box.

I do not have any of the client workarounds turned on.

I'm using the Maildir format. Are you using mbox?
