Hi there....got some questions for other N95 users

1) I think I only have middle-east maps. Anyone know how I can get others? I tried that navfone thing...doesn't have other maps. Of course, I want the US and Canada

2) Anyone know how I can get Chinese fonts to work on this?

Well, that's all I have so far...thanks a lot!

Sorry, I think I've figured out this GPS thing. But for some reason I can't seem to download maps of where I am (Toronto) even after I connect to my wireless network. Is North American maps available? Thanks!

download a software known as "Nokia MapLoader" from www.smart2go.com

there you will find all the maps of the world, i too downloaded the map of india from there

Thanks...but I only see MapLoader...not Nokia MapLoader. Is it the same thing?

EDIT: O...nevermind....i found out...thanks...haha

Do you also know how to get unicode on this thing? Ie. I am looking for it to be able to display fonts from another language. Thanks.

MapLoader and Nokia MapLoader are the same thing. Some of the maps are HUGE, so it's best to use the loader and select your area, otherwise it might seem your phone is doing nothing while it's loading those maps. (The map server seems to have a speed limit set too...)

About Chinese... I've heard conflicting stories about loading Chinese fonts. I'm working on this right now.

Cool, thanks. I'll keep my eye open in the forums then. Do you know of any good sites that offer N95 themes? Also, there's this wallpaper thing. I tried to make an image a wallpaper, but it only occupied the center part. The top and bottom are still part of the theme. Any ideas?

N95 can use any standard S60 3rd Edition themes, but try looking for the ones designed for 240x320 screens, or the fully scalable ("resolution independent") ones.

Wallpapers are 240x240 and only cover the center part. It's normal. To get a full screen wallpaper you need to make a theme.

The map for India is 10.1 MB, so it's probably not that detailed. I notice that the largest sized map for Asia is Thailand (where I live) at 55 MB. It's so extremely detailed that I have trouble finding where I'm at 'cause the map shows tiny dirt roads that I've never taken a second look at.

The map program works with almost any 3rd Edition device so you could just download it to play with it. Doesn't need a GPS to work.

i downloaded the Maps of India, united Arab emirates & europe... however, i cant see any of them on my memory card and when i use the maps icon on the the phone. Anyone?

The maps are stored in a folder visible only when the phone is connected to PC under "date transfer" mode. It's hidden from the file manager within the phone. When using the Map app, zoom in enough on the regions you have downloaded the maps for, and roads and other info will start to appear.

Hows the map data for Dubai. Are you able to visualise all the Roads or just the major highways like SZR, Emirates Road etc? Considering the amount of construction and infrastructure development going on there, map data needs to be updated every month!!!

Hi, I just got back from Songkran vacation in China.

Anyway, the trick seems to be that you have to replace the system default font, which could be named differently depending on your phone's locale, with a font that has Chinese charaters. (Which could explain why simply copying fonts works for some and not others.)

On my Thai E65, the default font is S60SNRb.ttf, so I place a copy of N80font.ttf from a Simplified Chinese N80 that I found somewhere on the net into e:\resource\fonts and rename it to S60SNRb.ttf. This works perfectly for Simplified Chinese display.

Traditional Chinese is harder since it uses .ccc fonts and not .ttf fonts, and non-Chinese phones don't support .ccc files. (Which explains why you need an APAC phone in the first place.) So I found a free Traditional Chinese font somewhere and merged it with the system S60SNRb.ttf since I want both Chinese and Thai simultaneously, and placed the new S60SNRb.ttf on my memory card. This works, BUT now the fonts are not rendered totally smoothly, but this could be due to the ttf merging program I used. Will work on this.

These work for me, no guarantees for you. Would like to know how it works out for others though.

hey, I just got back from m vacation in Singapore, and I got there an N95
now I am back to Israel, everything works great, but there are no maps of Israel at all, only 3 roads for all the map :S weird
even Live Maps (microsoft) has more detail, city based maps...
any Idea if they will be implemented or how I can use or get em now?
