N95 Maps

So maybe I'm an idiot but my N95 wont connect to satellites. I uploaded the Texas map and I can go to an address and all that, but I can't get the GPS to function.

Hopefully I am not doing something or doing something wrong. Any help?

Go Outside, open ur slider and raise ur n95 in the air up the sky for at least 2-5 minutes and it should work

And make sure you look like you know what you're doing - maybe yell something along the lines of "Can you hear me now?".

It also (reportedly) helps if you go into Options > View > Satellite Info. At the very least this allows you to see how many satellites it is finding and what signal strength. It still seems to take up to a couple of minutes to lock on in my experience.

i somehow had it set to connect via wifi instead of packet data. now it works perfect. thanks

if u connect thru wifi u might get a bill for internet usage mate..

Anyway at the NYC Nokia store they are telling customers that it could take 15 minutes to lock on.

oh yeah, rising your slider definitely helps the connection as the receiver is in the bottom of the phone

wifi and gprs got nothing to do in improving or getting satellite coverage, if you already got the maps downloaded via maploader, if you haven't done that then i suggest you do it.

My network internet is turn off all the time since the maps that i needed was already stored in the memory card and gps always locks on my n95 in under 2 minutes cold start and 30 sec when you exit and enter maps again.
