n95 in Hong Kong

N95 is added to the ringhk site, and it says is it selling for $6998hkd. Which means just over $1000 CDN right now.
So I guess by the time your get to HK later, the price will come down a bit.

Actually, "water goods" are products that are not purchased through an official distributor. For example, the "water goods" version of N95 is the Singapore APC N95 purchased through official Singapore distributors (although it may go through many middle parties). Basically it's a phone non-intended for sale in your particular region.

The "official" or "non-water good" N95 is releasing next week. The official HKG version will have HK firmware along with authentic HK charger. The main difference between purchasing a official and water good in HK is only official goods are able to claim warranty through Nokia.

FYI the "shady" Mong Kok plaza has "water good" n95 for low as 5300 now.

N95 will be available in Hong Kong Nokia stores tomorrow (April 18th, 2007) for 6998 retail price, first come first serve basis.

why not buy from USA Nokia store where it is USD 100 cheaper than HK. What will you do if your handset needs a hardware repair after returning to Canada. At least you can send it to the US nokia service centre with ease.
Most of the asian NSC will not accept repair phones in mail and even if they accept, they wouldn't take the trouble and expense of mailing it back.
An expensive purchase better be backed by reliable & working warranty.
Makes no sense in buying a phone just because you are visiting HK. Better is to show off in HK . if you need to buy , buy a SU-8W..

And the credit card company is going to convert HKD to USD to CAD. The exchange conversion is going to cost you atleast 8-10 USd more.

That is the price of the HK version directly from Nokia store. The "water good"/APAC version has already dropped as low as 53XX which is well under $800 CAN.

well you'd have to visit the US in order to pick up the phone from the US Nokia store... if someoneis already going to HK, I guess he has to make a choice between official/"hong for" and "water goods"/"shui for".

$6998 is a bit expensive... wonder how fast that would drop?

I thought about the warranty.... and I've decided to buy it before I leave, the prices have gotten cheaper since I started this thread.

But I will still buy one in HK if they cheaper there than Here when I go for my trip. (I'll have both colours...) Thanks for all the tips, if anyone can give me the stores that sell the North American version in HK that would be great. I don't think I'd benefit much from an asian version.

What's does the Import version do that's different from the HK or North american one.
Actually if anyone has a definition sheet explaining the different versions please put it up, this is getting confusing with the North american, euro, hk and import versions...............

if you buy from hong kong it's either the official hong kong version or import version(import version are the euro, US or singapore), if it's not sold from a authorised channel, it's considered as import version, also known as gray import, shui for, water product etc.

the only different from hk version and import version are warranty and differences in the supplied accessories and some times the colour.

UPDATE!!!!!

Prices in Canada has dropped to $890 CDN BNIB for a Made in Finland. North American version, with North American Warranty for 1 year.

seeing how I have a few more weeks before HK it looks like I'm getting it before I leave. Has the prices dropped any in HK?

I just purchased a "water good" version of N95 in Hong Kong for 5300 HKD. It's the APAC version with Traditional and Simplified Chinese support BNIB. There is NO warranty with " water good". Official HK version can be purchased for about 6400 HKD with warranty.

I do suggest buying it in North America if warranty is a concern, I do not see the price of HK version dropping much within reasonable time. However, please note that "Made in Finland" phones are more prone to slider wobble at least from my research, so check the phone before you buy.

This is my first "water good" phone purchase, but having said that I've never had a single problem in my previous phones during the warranty period.

N95 water good version are available from HKD 5000, hk version from HKD 6400, from small local stores, if you buy from well known stores like fortress, wilsons or broadway expect about HKD 6990.

I'm getting mine at the end of the week from wilsons communications at HKD 6990.

what are some more reputable "water good" places? I'm gonna be there in about 2 weeks and will need a new phone

zoopido, where did you get yours? Made by Nokia right?

I am fm HK and I just got one from Wilson store. I replace one after one day because of the slider wobble. Great service, and better yet, the price is HKD90 down to HK6900 now.

Warranty is a concern for me so I decide to pay more for the peace of mind. I also heard that some "water goods" store will switch fake battery/fake charger in order to afford such deep discount. I have no proof for all these claims, though.

It is a lovely phone indeed, after years of using WM2003, WM5, Palm...

I just got my hand's on a water version, and languages are in English, Indonesia and Philipino. It's all well and good since I'll use English most of the time. But on occasions I do get a message in chinese from my Hong Kong friends and it comes out in tiny squares. Was wondering if anyone can help me out and post their HK version product codes so that I could flash it.

Thanks!

Yep, made by Nokia. 100% guaranteed original product though and no wobble.

Just really depends if you can find a reputable shop. I can't warrant spending an extra 1100 on a phone when I can't even utilize it's biggest advantage (which IMO is chinese maps of HK), since my Chinese isn't up to par. And yes, a lot of places do use fake/refurbished parts to lower the price.

For the same price, I have an extra official battery, a jabra BT8010, the packaged leather case. I already got a replacement headset since mine was faulty without any problems (the wired one).

Please please please someone post their product code from the official HK version and if its from a store or nokias's own flagship(in case its different). I bless you all.

Singapore generic has English, Malay, and Chinese languages. The Chinese is Simplified for the UI and text input but will display both Simp/Trad characters. The product code is 0534833.

HK generic has English, Trad Chinese and Simp Chinese. Both Chinese applies to UI, and text input and display. I'll post that product code when I change my Singapore generic for HK generic tomorrow.
