N93i UP, CLOSE, & PERSONAL!!! <lotsa pics!>

I am so glad that 1900 reception is pretty good around here (toronto and mississauga), the thing is I want to know if a 4gig miniSD will work in this phone. I can't wait for his initial impressions. I hope he gives us a mini review or something from him and some camera samples! Also on ebay the price seems to have dropped already about 60 bucks on average, haha they just want to jip the early adopters, I have a feeling the N93 will slow down in production and price will drop for it and the N93i will assume the N93's current pricing.

I'm sure at some point it will but who knows how long. Some phones seem to hold their value for a long time. The 7610 still fetches 200+ used on fleabay so who knows. The 8890 is still a 100+ phone even though it's problematic and plagued with antiquated features.(still love it though ) Phones like the N92 and N95 are going to be expensive for a while because of their unique abilities. The N91 seems to hold it's value pretty well. Phones like the N80 and N73 will plummet I would think while the N93 will remain expensive for some time.

I dont imagine it's going to support 4gigs just yet. Perhaps future FW updates will allow current models to support it but I doubt the OP is going to take a chance on buying it to report back here.

If your company paid for every cent of a 3500+ minute plan and unlimited Data + 5000 text/mms messages would you switch? I desperately want to switch to tmo but until my company does I cant budge.

My freelance writing has started to pick up, so I have had to answer the phone a bit more than I used to. I am still considering picking up Vonage at home so I can keep Tmobile. In 70% of my waking hours are spent in great coverage areas, so I can sacrifice the times I am at home (or at least forward the calls) for some imported GSM love

I think the only real noticeable difference is the level of brightness. The n73 is currently the brightest S60 available and the N93i is said to be the same. However, a screenshot wont show any difference in brightness as it's taken directly from the unit.....unless you want a snapshot from a digi?

Hi all. Greeting from the PRC.

I just got my HK trade "warm grey" N93i this week so I'll try to answer you questions about the phone. If the OP only had the plum colour option, I suspect his is a Singapore trade model (SG only has the plum coloured model). Anyway....

I had the N93 when it first came out but ditched it quickly for a P990i. Then switched from that to a W950i before coming back to the N93i. It's much better looking and smaller-feeling than the N93 (if I remember correctly - it might just be faulty memory but I can live with the dimensions now; I couldn't before).

Size-wise, it the same length+width as the W950; depth about 1.5 time more. The keypad is nice to look at but definitely a pain; the original is light-years better. Then again the new microSD flap is much much better implemented. Same can't be said for the Pop-Port flap though, esp. if you're using headphones for the music player (which you have to 'cause there's no A2DP - the biggest letdown!) I don't know what the designers were thinking but I can imagine it just shearing off snagging on something or another! Indoors/at night the screen is very bright and the extra colour depth is most noticeable when watching videos.

So fire away with your Q's and I'll try to answer them as best I can (just hold off on Wifi questions until the weekend when I'll have set mine up again).

rapolu thx!

Alll the photos were taken with shooting mode & white balance set to auto. The first photo in each set was taken w.o flash, the second with.

The floor tiles are lit by a single desklamp with a 40w bulb from about 1.5 metres above. The shots were taken from about 1 metre high.
