N91 Mass Storage issue

I can't seem to get the phone to go into mass storage mode when I have Messaging Memory set to HDD. Is there any fix for this?

Does it give you that error of "memory in use" or whatever? Same thing happens on a regular S60 phone with the messaging set to the Memory Card. I have yet to find a fix... I even had to start installing Shozu on the phone rather than the Mem card, because the Shozu daemon running from the mem card would cause this to happen.

Annoying as hell!

yes!
It gives me that "HDD is in use, Cannot activate Mass Storage Mode" message. Its the same msg I've gotten with Shozu in the past.

Yep, that's the one... really pisses me off too. The only answer I've found (after a frustrating couple of hours on my n80 where I originally saw it) is to make sure that stuff that is going to be 'always on' is not installed on the memory card, i.e. Shozu, Messaging, etc. One thing I found worked ok, but not all the time, is to go in with Tasky or something else and kill the running task. So for example, there's a daemon for Shozu that's always running -- you can find it in the list, kill it, then do the mass storage thing. But this means you have to go in and re-initialize Shozu before you use it.

Frustrating!

Hmm, I can't kill the Messaging process since I retrieve my email via it. Plus, on the mac, as there is no PC Suite, I'm forced to mass storage mode everyday. So for now, I'm back to storing my messages on the phone memory until I find a solution or perhaps a better email client.

I haven't used it in a while. The last time I used it, it was with my 6620 and it created some problems with my gmail a/c. I've stayed away from it since then. Interface wise, it was quite good, but the font was a little too small for my liking. It doesn't integrate with the built-in mail app as well (like ProfiMail with calendar). I'm looking for other alternatives, so let's see.

Hi there
Yep as you've found, you'll need to install ShoZu onto the phone memory to avoid this type of issue. But in version 3.2 due out in the next couple of months we're hoping to incorporate an "Off" button which will help with this type of issue.

Best,
Mark

Mark,

That'd be great if there were a quick way to kill Shozu, and then reinitialize it after the Mass Storage mode is finished.

Keep us posted!
