N82 #-key / Pencil Key / Copy/Paste Issues?

^ yep - im running .60 as well

the thing is - i love that app! thats part of the reason i got a n82 in the first place - lol - i wont be removing it

oh well - it looks like ill be stuck using the workaround shaolinmonk mentioned - not exactly what i wanted to happen in the end, but at least its better than what i had before

hopefully either nokias or garmins next update will take care of the issue...

Great debugging team =) I feel like I'm doing QA work now although I've never had to try that out but with Nokia Maps giving me inaccurate locations in Taiwan and Tom Tom not working with the internal GPS receiver, I had to go with Garmin whcih unfortunately messes up my # key =(

i just tried it, and this is the method that works on my n82

the usual method for this is to do the following:
- type "Hello"
- hit the space key
- hit the # key to get the upper case "M"
- type "Mark"
- hit the right d-pad
- type "sky"

welp people - sidfire to the rescue!

check out his thread - for those of you with garmin xt installed, i just tried this method and it looks like it works!

the problem is definitely garmin related - after this fix, the phone works fine - BUT - when you restart garmin (and presumably when you restart the phone as well) - that process restarts itself and you have to run through the fix again...

It seems as though the button is operating opposite to how it was intended. It's as if one push of the # key makes the phone think that it's being held down continuously.

That said, if you are affected by the problem and wish to navigate your text or between fields, if you hold down the # key and then use the D-Pad, you should be able to. Kind of a pain in the ***. I'm not sure what's worse, having to remember to terminate the process (if you happen to use Garmin XT all the time) or hold down a key to move around.

I have the same issue, and I'm running GarminXP (cracked)

I'd like it fixed, but I can work around it enough to keep Garmin. Hopefully it's fixed when either nokia or garmin updates, as already mentioned.

It's really annoying :(

*edit*

I also just realised that my firmware version does indeed make the beep and shutter sounds for the camera/focus even in silent. Any way to get rid of this? It also doesn't silence the sounds from games and stuff... real pain in the ***.

I thought "smart" phones were supposed to be super-adjustable. WTF mate.

Garmin does indeed mess up the # key when you use it to select text, etc. The program that does this is called TSRautostart.exe or something, which you can see/close from Best Taskman if you view running processes. If you end the program, the key will function just as the pencil key on older S60 phones. The problem is, the program seems to start itself quite frequently... so you'll always be having to close it.

Wait for Garmin to update their software for the N82 or uninstall it... or just live with it like I do (I'm gonna go back to an N95 soon anyway) :)

There is not pencil key on the N82. Instead, you need to press and hold the # key, select the text using the D-Pad. You will have the options to Cut and Copy, which needs to be selected.

To paste the copied text, press and hold the # key and then select paste.

hope this helps.
